Before you go
Line up your pension
You need a pension or other regular income of at least US$2,000 a month that can be transferred to Brazil each month (aim at least ~20% higher). Get your FBI record apostilled and buy health insurance valid in Brazil.
After you land, register with the PolΓcia Federal within 90 days (some consulates say 30 β οΈ) and receive your CRNM ID card. Get a CPF tax number too.
The 4 years of residence run from your indefinite residence (just 1 year if you have a Brazilian spouse or child). Use them to pass the Celpe-Bras Portuguese exam.
